The students are calmer, kinder, more relaxed and focused

“We are so grateful for our yoga mats and pencil sharpener. Our class utilizes the yoga mats during our weekly yoga sessions. Having the yoga mats provides each child with their own space to practice yoga poses. According to Kathleen Charles, of Do You Yoga https://www.doyouyoga.com/&benefits-of-yoga-forkids/, yoga has the following benefits for children:
• Yoga teaches self-acceptance and self-awareness. Students learn that there is no competition on their yoga mats. Being in a non-competitive environment encourages them to accept themselves as they are.
• Yoga encourages healthy habits. Being physically active is important for a healthy body. Children are less active than they used to be. Yoga encourages children to move more.
• Yoga helps children to focus. Yoga focuses on connecting the body and the mind. During the yoga session children are mindful and present.
• Students learn how to be calm. Yoga teaches deep breathing techniques. Children learn how to use deep breathing during challenging situations.
The students in my class thoroughly enjoy our yoga sessions. I find them to be calmer, kinder, more relaxed and focused. Teaching yoga classes and concepts has made a positive impact on my teaching and their learning. I asked my class what they love most about yoga. Here are some of their answers:
I love inhaling and exhaling.
I love doing downward dog.
Yoga makes me feel calm.
Yoga makes me feel better.
Yoga gives me more energy.
Yoga makes me happy.
Our children need more experiences to feel accepted, calm, better, mindful and at ease. You have helped to meet their needs by providing yoga mats for our class. We appreciate your contribution.” – PI Teacher, St. George’s Preparatory School
